paper road
Privacy policy
Updated October 25, 2026
paper road is a travel journal: you plan trips, capture the places you go, and can share them with other travelers. This explains what the app keeps, where, who can see it, and how to delete it.
Without an account
- You can use paper road without signing in. Your trips, places, notes and photos then stay on your phone and nothing is sent to us.
What we keep when you sign in
- Your email address, used only to send your sign-in codes.
- Your profile: name, username, bio, home city and profile photo.
- Your trips and places: titles, dates, notes, ratings, place names and locations, and the photos you add, so they’re backed up and on all your devices.
- Who you follow and who follows you (and follow requests), the comments you write and the trips you like, and anything you report.
- A notification address for your phone, if you allow notifications.
Who can see what
- Trips are private unless you share them on your profile. A shared trip, with its places and photos, can be seen by anyone signed in to paper road, or, if your account is private, only by the followers you accept. Ideas (places not on a day yet) are only ever yours.
- Your name, username and profile photo, and how many people follow you, can be seen by anyone signed in. Your bio, home city, cover photo and who you follow can too, unless your account is private: then only your accepted followers see them.
- Comments and likes can be seen by anyone who can see the trip. If your account is private, your comments and likes on others’ trips are seen only by your followers and the trip’s owner.
- Your email address is never shown to anyone.
Location and photos
- paper road uses your location only while you’re using the app, and only when you capture a place or ask it to, so the place lands on your map. It doesn’t track you in the background.
- When you add a photo, its date and location (if it has them) can be used to place it in your trip.
Services we use
- Supabase stores your account, trips and photos.
- Resend sends your sign-in emails.
- Expo delivers notifications and app updates.
- OpenStreetMap looks up places and addresses when you search for or capture a place (it receives your search, or the spot you’re at).
- Wikipedia supplies pictures of destinations for trip covers.
- These services only handle your information to do these jobs for paper road.
What we don’t do
- We never sell or rent your information to anyone.
- No tracking you across other apps or websites.
Deleting your information
- Delete a trip, place, photo or comment at any time, and no one can see it any more.
- Delete your whole account in the app: Me → Edit profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account and everything in it from our servers straight away: profile, trips, places, photos, comments, follows and notification address. Copies on your own phone stay until you delete the app.
Children
- paper road isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes and questions
- If this policy changes, we’ll update the date at the top and, for anything important, let you know in the app.
